Topological Interrogation and Editing (TIE)

چکیده
For shape modeling, the boundaries of geometric models are critical to well-defined topology. However, geometric models typically have boundaries that are only approximated, with recent contemporary algorithms providing global upper bounds upon these approximation errors. These global bounds are crucial for initial shape description. As final shape modeling continues through an iterative modeling process, it is usually desirable to further refine these boundary approximations – often when the original geometry creation software is no longer accessible. We present a software tool to locally improve topology along boundary curves. This approach is innovative by • its integration of simultaneous shape interrogation and editing, and • its independence from the original shape modeling systems (specifically commercial computer aided geometric design (CAGD) systems). These features will facilitate iterative design and improve communication between designers and analysts.

Tie knots, random walks and topology
Necktie knots are inherently topological structures; what makes them tractable is the particular manner in which they are constructed. This observation motivates a map between tie knots and persistent walks on a triangular lattice. The topological structure embedded in a tie knot may be determined by appropriately manipulating its projection; we derive corresponding rules for tie knot sequences...
متن کاملBow-tie topological features of metabolic networks and the functional significance
Exploring the structural topology of genome-based large-scale metabolic network is essential for investigating possible relations between structure and functionality. Visualization would be helpful for obtaining immediate information about structural organization. In this work, metabolic networks of 75 organisms were investigated from a topological point of view. A spread bow-tie model was prop...

A Ramsey interrogation scheme was used to measure the phase shift of laser-cooled Rb clocktransition pseudospins arising as a result of a reversal of a bias magnetic field, i.e., B → −B, during the interrogation. While no phase shift occurred when the reversal was sudden, the Ramsey fringes were shifted by a factor of π when the reversal was adiabatic. We thus verified the prediction that the s...
متن کاملFeature Correlation for Particle Image Velocimetry: An Application of Pattern Recognition
Particle Image Velocimetry (NV) has been used successfully for measuring instantaneous two dimensional velocity fields. Analyzing PIV images involves matching particle images capwred sequentially. In the usual practice, correlation (autoor cross-correlation) is used to find the displacement (hence velocity) of the particles within a large number of small "interrogation areas" in the field of vi...
متن کاملThe Social Bow Tie
Understanding tie strength in social networks, and the factors that influence it, have received much attention in a myriad of disciplines for decades. Several models incorporating indicators of tie strength have been proposed and used to quantify relationships in social networks, and a standard set of structural network metrics have been applied to predominantly online social media sites to pre...
